Lasers in Hygiene: What Actually Works – From Perio Therapy to Photobiomodulatoin
3 Credit Hours
This course provides a clinically focused approach to integrating laser technology into modern dental hygiene practice. Participants will gain an understanding of laser science, safety, and tissue interaction, followed by practical application of laser-assisted periodontal therapy and maintenance protocols.
The course will include the use of photobiomodulation (PBM) for inflammation reduction and enhanced healing, as well as the hygienist’s role in identifying patients who may benefit from advanced laser procedures performed by the dentist.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the fundamentals of laser science, safety, and tissue interaction
- Identify appropriate laser wavelengths for specific clinical applications
- Implement laser-assisted periodontal therapy protocols in hygiene practice
- Recognize the clinical benefits of photobiomodulation (PBM)
- Apply laser therapy using case-based clinical decision-making
