The DSWP congratulates members Dr. Ariadne Letra and Dr. Robert J. Weyant on their 2026 Pennsylvania Dental Association Annual Awards.

Each year, the Annual Awards Committee, composed of PDA’s five living immediate past presidents, considers and votes on nominations. Congratulations to these outstanding individuals!

Recognition Award
Ariadne Letra, DDS, MS, PhD

Dr. Letra is a tenured Professor in the Departments of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences and Endodontics and Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. With her scholarly work in more than 200 publications, Dr. Letra is among the most highly cited investigators in dental and craniofacial research; a testament to her work’s significance and vital role in shaping contemporary understanding of oral disease, craniofacial development and precision dentistry.

Dr. Letra’s groundbreaking scientific influence is amplified by her dedication, mentorship, education and professional leadership. PDA is pleased to recognize Dr. Letra’s numerous research achievements and honor her dedication as an educator.

Public Service Award
Robert J. Weyant, DMD, MPH, DrPH

Dr. Weyant has spent decades advancing oral health through public service, research, education and policy leadership. Currently, Dr. Weyant is Chair of the Department of Dental Public Health and Associate Dean for Public Health and Outreach at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Under his leadership, the school provides preventive and clinical services to thousands of vulnerable individuals each year.

Dr. Weyant also founded and led Pitt’s DMD/MPH dual degree program to ensure that graduates enter the profession prepared to address systemic disparities. His research helped generate important data that continues to influence national public health programs. PDA is proud to honor Dr. Weyant for his efforts to advance oral health.
